ROCK-TIL-YOU-DROP-SOCIAL
Organised by RTYD's new boy-wonder Marc Verlaine, the ROCK-TIL-YOU-DROP-Social was held last night at The Miller pub in London Bridge. It was intended to be a chance for members to meet and chat and network. And that, they enthusiastically, did. There was no awkwardness. People walked in and were immediately made to feel welcome. Everyone had plenty to share and talk about. It was, of course, a room full of people with a lot in common.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. What was nice was that no one was sound-checking, no one was playing, so attention wasn't divided, and you could hear yourself talk and hear others clearly. People also moved around the room, and made an effort to talk to others.
It was all over by 10 o'clock, which, as Tox of 14 Carat Grapefruit points out, is significant. There were some very familiar faces, and some new ones, which is always nice.
The following acts, 14 Carat Grapefruit, The Outbursts, Trad Arr. Kryptic Klu, The Dipsticks, The Rayfields, The Greedies, The Lone Groover, Riff Raff, Creak, oh, and Pocket Rocket, all sent at least one representative.
I was particularly impressed by those who came not knowing anyone. That, is the spirit.
Why not try it where you live?

it was interesting how it seemed to naturally end at 10pm, mind you, once Otto had made his mind up to go there seemed little point hanging around ;o)
Actually I was pretty busy last week and didn't want to make it too much of a late one...but that nice Tony kept plying me with halves of shandy just as I was about to leave.
What a nice toasty evening....felt right at home (well apart from that miserable git Tox who had to turn up)...cheers to Mark for thinking of it and organising it.
Who were those attractive young ladies who turned up at the end then? I thought we were supposed to be a support group for middle aged men with hairy ears.....Not that I have a problem with a broader demographic.....I mean after all we let hippies and people who do country music and everything in don't we?
Cheers
Otto
