Glamweazel and the Mick Ronson Legacy
Glamweazel's soon to be released single from the album Apocalypstick, Thursday Night 1972, will be used as the 'song of the event' by The Mick Ronson Legacy (MRL). The MRL is an organisation that puts on annual fund-raising events to raise awareness of cancer that include performances by those who have either worked with, or knew, the great man himself.
Jerry T Jones, who is Glamweazel, as well as being guitarist in '80s band One The Juggler, is understandably chuffed having worked with Ronson on One the Juggler's second album, an experience he describes as "a dream come true" and which led to the two becoming became friends. As fate would have it, The Mick Ronson Legacy stumbled across Glamweazel's video on YouTube, and, along with Mick's daughter Lisa, picked up on its relevance to those of us who remember the first Top of the Pops appearance of Ziggy Stardust and Mick Ronson.
Glamweazel will be releasing a limited edition of the song in advance of this year's event on June 4th in Hull.
As you will have seen if you already follow this blog, Glamweazel will also be playing The Dublin Castle in Camden this Wednesday 4th May along with another friend of RTYD, 14 Carat Grapefruit; They also play The Hope and Anchor in Islington on 14th July.
